How to buy and redeem League of Legends gift cards

· · 3 min

Why people still use LoL gift cards

You want Riot Points for a new skin, but you do not want to attach a card to your account. That is the most common reason players pick up a League of Legends gift card. It works, and the code lands in your inbox within minutes.

I have noticed a lot of players also grab these as gifts for friends, since you can forward the code just as easily as you received it. No packaging, no shipping, no awkward wait. The card denomination is in AUD or BRL depending on your region, and you redeem it through the Riot client the same way regardless of which one you bought.

Which denominations are available

We stock several AUD cards and one BRL option. Prices below are approximate and shown in USD, since that is how our store lists them.

The AUD cards are for players whose Riot account region is set to Oceania. The BRL 50 card is for accounts set to Brazil. If you are not sure which region your account belongs to, check the top right of the client before you buy. Codes are region locked and will not redeem on an account from a different region.

How to buy a card on our store

The purchase flow is the same as buying any other digital code from us. You choose a denomination, pay, and receive the code by email.

  1. Pick the League of Legends gift card denomination that matches your account region.
  2. Add it to your cart and proceed to checkout.
  3. Enter your email address carefully, since that is where the code will be sent.
  4. Complete payment using your preferred method.
  5. Check your inbox for an email containing the gift card code.

If the email does not show up within a few minutes, look in your spam folder before reaching out. If it still is not there, contact us at support@blinkcodes.com and we will sort it out.

How to redeem the code in the League of Legends client

Once you have the code, redeeming it takes under a minute. You do this inside the client itself, not on a website.

  1. Open the League of Legends client and log in to your account.
  2. Click the store button, which is the coin icon in the top navigation bar.
  3. Click the prepaid card or code redemption button inside the store.
  4. Type or paste your gift card code into the field exactly as it appears in the email.
  5. Confirm the submission and wait for the success message.

The Riot Points should appear in your balance immediately after the confirmation message. From there you can spend them on champions, skins, emotes, or whatever else catches your eye in the store.

Common mistakes to avoid

The single biggest issue I see is region mismatch. A player buys an AUD card, tries to redeem it on a North America account, and gets an error. The card is not broken. It is just locked to a region that does not match. Always confirm your account region first.

Another mistake is entering the code with extra spaces or missing characters. Copy and paste is more reliable than typing by hand. If you do type it manually, double check each character, especially ones that look similar like O and zero.

Some players also try to redeem through the Riot Games website instead of the client. The prepaid card redemption option lives inside the LoL client store, so do not go looking for it elsewhere.

What you can spend Riot Points on

Riot Points, or RP, are the premium currency in League of Legends. You can use them for skins, chromas, ward skins, emotes, icons, and bundles. You can also use RP to unlock champions, though many players save their RP for cosmetics and use Blue Essence for champions instead.

During events, the store often features limited time skins and passes that cost RP. If you are saving up for a specific release, a higher denomination card like the AUD 50 or AUD 100 option gives you enough to grab a legendary skin or two without needing a second purchase.

A quick note on gifting

If you bought the card for a friend, just forward the email or copy the code into a message. They redeem it on their own account using the same steps above. You do not need to log in to their account or do anything on their behalf, which keeps things secure for both of you.

The code does not expire immediately, but I would not sit on it for months either. Redeem it sooner rather than later so you do not lose track of it in an old email thread.
