How to buy and redeem O2 gift cards without the hassle

· · 3 min

What an O2 gift card actually gets you

An O2 gift card is a prepaid voucher that loads credit onto an O2 mobile account. You buy a code, enter it on the phone or online, and the balance lands on the number. No bank card needed on the receiving end.

I have seen people grab these for elderly parents who ran out of credit, for teenagers on pay-as-you-go plans, and for their own secondary SIM while travelling. The voucher is just a string of digits, but it solves a real problem when someone needs to make a call and their balance hits zero.

One thing worth knowing upfront: O2 operates in both the UK and parts of Europe, and the vouchers are currency-specific. A GBP voucher tops up a UK O2 number. A EUR voucher tops up an O2 number on the European side. You cannot swap one for the other after purchase, so check which number you are feeding before you click buy.

Which denominations are on the shelf

We carry a range of values in both currencies, and the USD price you see on the store is what you pay. Here is what is currently available:

The EUR options run from 15 to 30, and the GBP side goes up to 35. If you are not sure how much the recipient needs, the GBP 20 at about 28 USD is a safe pick that covers a good chunk of calls and data.

How to buy an O2 voucher on our store

You pick the voucher, pay, and the code arrives by email. Nothing gets mailed physically.

  1. Go to the O2 gift card page on BlinkCodes and choose the denomination that matches your recipient's number, GBP for UK or EUR for European O2.
  2. Add the voucher to your cart and proceed to checkout.
  3. Enter your email address carefully, because that is where the redemption code will be delivered.
  4. Complete payment in USD using whichever method the store offers at checkout.
  5. Check your inbox for the code. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, look in the spam folder before reaching out.

If anything goes wrong with delivery, write to support@blinkcodes.com and include the order number. We can track the transaction and resend the code.

How to redeem the voucher on an O2 number

Once you have the code, redemption takes under a minute. The method depends on whether you are topping up your own phone or someone else's.

  1. On the O2 phone, dial the free top-up number and follow the voice prompts to enter the voucher code when asked.
  2. Alternatively, go to the O2 website or app, log into the account for the number you want to credit, and find the top-up section.
  3. Select the option to redeem a voucher or gift card, then type in the code exactly as it appears in the email.
  4. Confirm the entry and wait for the confirmation message, which usually arrives as a text to the topped-up number.

The credit should appear almost immediately. If O2's system rejects the code, double-check that you typed it correctly and that the currency matches the number. A EUR code on a UK number, or vice versa, will not go through.

When these vouchers come in handy

The most common scenario is simple: someone's balance is low and they need credit fast. A parent travelling abroad forgot to auto-top-up. A student ran out mid-month. You want to gift credit without handing over your card details to a carrier site.

Because the code is delivered by email, you can forward it to the recipient and let them redeem it themselves. That works well if you are in a different time zone or just want to keep the top-up as a surprise. I have also seen people buy a couple of vouchers at once and keep the spare codes in a notes app for later use, since the credit does not start counting down until it is actually applied to a number.

One small tip before you go. If you are buying for a number you do not control, confirm the currency with the recipient first. It takes ten seconds and saves a support ticket later.
